Drive Traffic to Old Content with “Tweet Old Post” Plugin « Weblog Tools Collection

How long ago did you create your Twitter account? Hold on to that number…how long ago did you launch your blog? Something tells me that you’ve probably been running your blog much longer than you’ve had a Twitter account…am I right? If so this can only mean one thing, unless you’ve been actively tweeting older posts from your blog, your Twitter followers have no idea about the treasure trove of (older) content that is sitting on your site. Sure you are getting a ton of search engine traffic, but hasn’t traffic from social media also proven to be extremely lucrative as well? Why let that potential traffic go to waste?

This is where the Tweet Old Post plugin comes in. The Tweet Old Post plugin does one thing and it does it well, it allows you to automatically tweet about old posts using a specified Twitter account and it provides you with a set of options to make sure that tweet is right.

Before you go and install this free plugin make sure you read this in depth review to help you decide whether this plugin is the right tool for you.

Requirements

* Tweet Old Post requires that you run at a minimum WordPress 2.7 and it officially supports WordPress up to 2.92, however I currently run this plugin in WordPress 3.01 with no issues.

* Your server must run PHP5 and PHP 4 is now supported in the latest release.

You can download and install the Tweet Old Post plugin from the Plugins directory in WordPress within your WordPress installation or you can download the plugin directly from the WordPress by following this link.

To install from your WordPress installation simply click on Plugins in the Admin menu, Add New, and search for Tweet Old Post. When the plugin appears in the search results list, click on the Install button to download and install the plugin.

1. Do they require a prescription? As you know already, its illegal to sell prescription medication without a prescription. If you see any major tag lines that say “No Prescription Necessary” or if you get the order form and was never asked for your previous prescription history before check out, then look for another online pharmacy.

2. Is their medication FDA approved? You only want to buy medication from within the USA that has been FDA approved. If you cannot find this on the home page, check their FAQ or consumer help section for this information.

3. Are their doctors and pharmacies are located in the USA?Look for “US Licensed” doctors and pharmacies that are working with your online pharmacy. If there is no mention of being in the US, then they probably are not.

4. Are their company headquarters are located? Considering that legitimate online pharmacies need to work with FDA approved medication and US licensed doctors and pharmacies, it only makes sense that they would also be located in the USA. Check for their mailing address and see if you can find out exactly where they are.

5. Can you easily find their contact information? You should be able to quickly and easily locate a phone number, email address or live chat option that will get you in touch with the company. Then go ahead and try to contact the company and see what kind of response you get. You should be able to talk to a live person relatively quickly and they should be able to answer all your questions with confidence and ease.

6. Does the site show their privacy and return policy as well as terms and conditions? Make sure you see these policies listed and that you read through it before placing orders. Most legitimate online pharmacies will allow you to return or get a refund for your order and most sites will have very strict privacy policy in place.

7. Do the prices seem fair? Of course pricing shopping is a big component to any online purchase but make sure that the price you are paying seems fair. Most pharmacies buy their medication from the manufacturer at the same price so the prices online should all be fairly similar. If the price is way too low, then that’s a sure sign that they are not going to send you what you asked for.

DavidMixner.com – Live From Hell's Kitchen

There is no question that President Obama last night rose to the occasion and delivered a urgently needed inspirational speech. At times combative, self deprecating and inspirational, the speech was exactly the right tone for the moment. His focus on jobs and more jobs was what the American people desperately wanted to and needed to hear. The Presidents commitment to stay with healthcare was a defining moment. Proclaiming that every day should’nt be election day was powerful. However, as my mother used to say when people made wide promises, “We'll see, the proof will be in the pudding”. We have seen Obama rise on many occasions to deliver the speechwhen needed. Whether it was the speech on Reverend Wright and race or the speech at the Iowa Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner which began his ascent to the Presidency, Obama has always delivered the words when in trouble. The problem is that the magic is starting to wear off and we are waiting for hardcore action than mere words. I believe he wants to do the right thing. The problem is that with his record over the last year we have to question if he has the leadership and understanding of power to do the right thing. The reference to “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in a State of the Union message was no doubt a powerful and historic moment for the LGBT community. The community has succeeded in pushing this rock up the hill so that at last DADT is part of the national agenda. What I dont understand is why the President continues to resist issuing a stop-loss order and end this practice now instead of a prolong and maybe never ending Congressional battle? What a moral high ground he would have spoken from last night if he announced a stop-loss order and then challenge Congress to meet his courage. The President has the power right this moment, beyond inspiration words, to create powerful change for this community. He once again decided not to use his Presidential powers and depend totally on Congress. The President left me hopeful last night but guarded. Clearly it has been proven over the last year that this administration does respond to pressure. So, most importantly, let's not waste any time with moving words but do our job and keep the pressure on this President and this Congress to do the job for which they were elected. The time for words has passed and there is an urgent need for real action before the election in November. via DavidMixner.com – Live From Hell’s Kitchen.

4 Bad Ideas for Making Money Online

Posted By Elizabeth McGee On April 27, 2010 @ 11:03 am In Business – Online | No Comments

c Bad Idea #1 – Don’t Build a Business Around Products that People Can Get for Free. There are lots of products that people can get for free so selling those types of products online may prove to be less than fruitful. For example, you may choose an ebook, guide or course to sell or promote online, but if others are giving it away for free or for less money you won’t be making many sales. Also, certain items like moving boxes or yearly calendars are both examples of items that people sometimes pay for but often get for free. When thinking about products to sell or promote be sure to consider how profitable those products are by first determining if they are things people are, more often that not, willing to pay for.
Bad Idea #2 – Don’t build your Business around Niche Products where there is No Demand. In order to get the most out of your time and effort, spend some time performing keyword research. It will help you tremendously for knowing exactly what people actually look for online. There is nothing more disheartening and frustrating than spending hours creating a product that produces little to no interest from the internet community. First find out what people look for online, and where they are spending their money.
Bad Idea #3 – Don’t Create an eCommerce Website around Only One Product To begin making money online and growing a successful ecommerce business it’s important that you incorporate more than one product into your business plan.  For example, what happens if people land on your website and aren’t interested in your one and only bird feeder?  On the other hand what if the product you are selling or promoting all of a sudden is no longer available or your supplier discontinues the item? Provide your visitors with related choices and alternatives when selling items and goods.  You will have a much better chance for making not only more sales but saving yourself from disaster.
Bad Idea #4 – Never Sell or promote products you have not personally used or know nothing about. Part of building an online business is gaining the trust of your visitors. If you are starting out as an affiliate marketer promoting other people’s products for example, it can be a big mistake to try and persuade others to buy a product or service that you personally know nothing about. Even though it’s been done by many a marketer, the best approach is promote with honesty and personal experience. The most successful marketers are those that build trust and generate visitor confidence.  You can do this by promoting only products that either you create yourself or can endorse through personal use.  This is also how you build trust and lasting relationships with your visitors which is ultimately the best strategy. Building a well researched, legitimate online business is the best way for making money online, but it starts by taking the time to research your market, find quality products and build a relationship with your visitors. It just makes good business sense.

Reasons Why Leaving Spam Comments is NOT the Way to Promote Your Blog

There are basically three words that can describe spam accurately: desperate, manipulative, evil.  While that may sound like the resume of some soap opera villain, it rings true for every one of us who have ever been burned by spam.  Spam is an example of why sometimes, the means does not justify the end.

True, the aim is to build buzz for your blog but the technique used is just plain wrong.  If you’re planning on leaving spam comments on other websites any time soon, know that it’s not the way to promote your blog.  On the contrary, you might even do damage to your blog without knowing it.

Understanding spam comments

Spam comments started sprouting their evil seed when online guestbooks began appearing on websites.  Unscrupulous site owners and marketers bombarded these guestbooks with links (many even used purely links) back to the spammers’ websites.  If any comment is included at all, it may contain highly generic ones such as ‘cool post’ or ‘great website’ or ‘nice page’.

Spam appears in just about anything these days, including blogs, often in the form of a comment.  How this is done is quite simple.  Any blogger who wishes to promote his blog can simply write down keyword-heavy texts in the guise of a comment and then post it at random on another blog or website.  Sites that allow hyperlinks to be displayed are usually the prime targets.

The problem here is that this type of commenting is not purposeful at all.  It’s done at random, similar to throwing darts at a huge dartboard while wearing a blindfold in the hopes of hitting something, anything.

Why spam commenting will not work for you

Leaving spam comments to promote your blog may seem tempting enough but it’s best to avoid it.  That is, if you want to be taken seriously and see your blog last long enough for your grandchildren to appreciate.  Here are reasons why leaving spam comments to promote your blog are NOT the way to go:

You’re being watched

These days, you spam someone once and you’ll be branded for life.  Or at least the blog or business you’re trying to promote will be.  The CAN-SPAM Act of 2003 makes sure spam is controlled and no one can wave it around like a weapon.

Becoming associated with spam is bad news for your blog.  People hate spam… period.  They will be more than happy to report you to your host provider or even your affiliate companies and avoid your blog altogether.  And yes, Akismet and a host of other plug-ins designed to fight spam will be watching.

You will be penalized

By leaving spam comments on another website with the sole purpose of promoting your blog, you give that website’s owner the permission to become a witness against you.  Your host provider will cut off ties with you and if you’re using your blog to promote an affiliate’s products, even your affiliate will drop you.

Should this happen, you will have to start all over again, from square one, with a tarnished reputation.  If you leave more spam comments in the future, you’ll only be repeating the cycle all over again, all to your detriment.

You’ll be seen as unprofessional

Leaving spam comments to promote a blog is for the lazy, the uninformed and the desperate.  Why else would you use a technique that is generally viewed as unsavory?  If you’re unprofessional, your visitors will find it difficult to trust you ever again.

You’ll be violating certain unwritten codes

The reason why comments are allowed in websites is to provide people a platform with which to interact.  Blogs, forums and discussion boards are large meeting places, open to people regardless of their age, sex, location or personal beliefs, with the implicit agreement that those who participate will be respected for their beliefs.

By leaving spam comments on these sites mainly to promote your blog, you break this code of trust.

Leaving spam comments can increase your blog’s ranking… artificially

Although an artificial increase in ranking can mean good news for your blog (it will allow your site to appear high in search engine rankings), this is only an initial effect, sort of like anesthesia.  Soon, it will wear off.

This is particularly true if your blog has nothing else to offer.  Visitors who have been driven to your blog through search engine links (which you were able to achieve artificially) will sniff around your site and if they find nothing there, they’ll leave soon enough, never to come back.

Worse, word might even get around that your website is filled with nothing but air.  If you must promote your blog this way, make sure you have the content to make visitors stay.

WordPress › Blog » 100 Million Plugin Downloads and Counting

WordPress 3.0 Thelonious passed 3 million downloads yesterday, and today the plugin directory followed suit with a milestone of its own: 100 million downloads. The WordPress community’s growth over the years has been tremendous, and we want to reinvest in it. So we’re taking the next two months to concentrate on improving WordPress.org. A major part of that will be improving the infrastructure of the plugins directory. More than 10,000 plugins are in the directory, every one of them GPL compatible and free as in both beer and speech. Here’s what we have in mind: We want to provide developers the tools they need to build the best possible plugins. We’re going to provide better integration with the forums so you can support your users. We’ll make more statistics available to you so you can analyze your user base, and over time we hope to make it easier for you to manage, build, and release localized plugins. via WordPress › Blog » 100 Million Plugin Downloads and Counting.

The Kachingle Medallion Plugin For WordPress – A Unique Way To Getting Micropayments For Your Blog

Kachingle.com have invented a plugin so people that have WordPress blogs are able to receive micropayments in support of writing blog posts and for the upkeep of their blog for expenses like hosting, promotion, bandwith, etc.

How it works is people sign up and then insert some code at the top above the fold of their blog,as this is supposed to be favourable in getting attention by your readers. Then they pay $5 us dollars per month to subscribe if you will and your payment is spread over all the other blog sites that you yourself decide to visit. And it is divided equally among them and everyone receives a share. If someone is unable to continue paying then that’s Ok – it is someone’s choice. I think that it is a great idea as everyone gets a fair share. At the moment it is in it’s beginning stages but if enough people get involved then the likelihood of future payments will go up for everybody. It is a way of bloggers getting recognition for doing what they do and get a bit of an incentive for the hard work that goes into running a blog.

Forum Posting Techniques to Help You Promote Your Blog

Having a blog can be a great start to an online writing career.

Thanks to the power of technology and prospecting, there are now many ways through which you can make money through your blog. For instance, you can get commissions through paid advertising on your site. There are two ways that you can do this: you can either solicit offline and get brick and mortar companies to pay you to post their ads on your site, or you can join an affiliate marketing network and get paid for each click that visitors make on your ads. You can also blog for a living, and get paid for each entry that you write.

Either technique, however, demands that you have a lot of people visiting your site every single day. This can be a daunting task: you will need to be able to market your site so that it stands out amongst the millions of other blogs online. You will also need to sustain this onslaught of people reading your site by constantly adding to your content, keeping your content useful and fresh, and of course, never lagging in your marketing efforts. One way that you can promote your blog is to post in forums with subjects that are related to your blog posts.

If you are interested in promoting your blog and getting more people to read your work, then you may be interested in posting in forums and knowing how to go about it. Here are a few tips that you may need when posting in forums.

- Always pick a forum that has something to do with your blog. You may think that this is common sense, but you need to know why it’s the best practice for any blogger. Many bloggers make the mistake of spamming blogs in an effort to spread themselves throughout the forum and have their news spread faster. This can be a costly mistake: you do not only alienate your potential market, you will make yourself appear desperate. This air of desperation makes you appear like a hard-selling puppet of capitalism, and in the world of the Internet, where free and open source rules, you can work against your own potential.

- Avoid text lingo and spell like a pro. You may think that your audience is young and on the go, and would not care about your spelling. However, if you cannot even spell well, how can anyone trust you to blog well? How can anyone trust you as a credible source of high quality information? Spell well, check your grammar, and look at your punctuation. You need to look like you are someone who is meticulous and knows what people want, so don’t risk damaging your reputation by taking the shortest cut.

- Help people. Put your blog address in your signature, but start out by helping people with their problems. If you allow people to feel that they are important, they will be interested in you.
